Adding Design Details to Leggings Fashion Illustrations Using Panels

In this segment of our Fashion Illustration Course, we’re jumping into the art of constructing panels using the Pen Tool in Adobe Illustrator. This method is a bit more straightforward than using the pathfinder tool but can be more time consuming. This time, we draw our design elements straight onto our leggings illustrations, creating and tracing the panels in real-time. This technique is similar to the classic approach of manually sketching out panels and design elements, where we draw lines and curves from one point to another. These drawn areas will soon become sections we can fill with colour, textures, and patterns, bringing our leggings illustrations to life.

Though this process is widely used and relatively simple, it can be a little bit more labor-intensive than using the Pathfinder tool. However, it remains a great way for adding both simple and complex design elements to your leggings illustrations using Adobe Illustrator.
