Welcome to PatternLab

Hey guys! what a month it’s been. We officially launched PatternLab three weeks ago and so far we’ve had an amazing response from all of you. It’s been a really long process creating PatternLab and it’s been filled with so many up’s and down’s, but finally after three years work we’ve done it and it’s lovely to hear all your words of encouragement – let’s hope there’s more to come!

This video is simply to kick off our new Blog page, explain a little bit about the company, the product, the people that created it and give you some insight into how you can connect with us, share your experiences using the Lab, not to mention some of your gorgeous creations.

For us to grow as a company we really need your input and feed back. It’s important that we reach as many people as possible, to do this we need your help.

Follow us, and share your creations by posting on our Facebook channel or tagging us using the #PatternLab hashtag. It means a great deal to us to see your work and hear what you have to say.

  2. How amazing and what a wonderful concept I just wish I were more computer savvy and really understood all of this content as I have been sewing for over forty years and always wanted to pattern cut in order to produce my designs.
Do you think patternlab would be simple enough for me to conquer without too much computer knowledge?

    • Hi Bernadette,
Thank you for your comment! The lab its self is pretty easy to navigate and use. You shouldn’t need any computer knowledge to produce your basic blocks. The tutorials in Digital pattern cutting, however, might be a bit harder to grasp. But with a little patience and practise you should be well on your way to patten cutting your own designs. Also, there is no reason why you can’t apply these techniques to paper pattern cutting. The tools are very similar. Just cut and rotate on paper rather than on your computer.

  4. Hi there, great site and great idea. When will you start releasing the other pattern blocks?

    • Hi Margaret.
We are still working on amending our existing blocks and updating the lab with some really neat tools. This is taking time but we want to produce the best possible product for our customers. However, we should be relaunching before the end of the year. We’ll make sure everyone is informed when we do. If you’re worried you’ll miss out, then sign up to our newsletter!

I just watched the tutorial on how to draft patterns in Illustrator. Great work! Although, I cannot find the next tutorial. Any news on when that one will be published?

  9. Hi, I don’t understand. Is everything free? You mention charging from March, do you mean charging from March 2018?

    Reply
    • Hi Caroline. Sorry that is some old text that should have been replaced. When we launched last year, we intended to provide free patterns to test the product for only a short period. Hence the March 2017 monetisation date. However, we have been testing and rebuilding the patterns to cater for a larger size range. This has taken quite some time and we are still working on those patterns. The site is still free for the foreseeable future, enjoy!
